Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
Wearing an SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) is mandatory in many areas where the health and safety of workers is concerned (asbestos treatment, confined spaces, painting work, etc.)
Art. L.321-8(1) of the Labor Code provides for the obligation of occupational safety and health training focused on the workstation. Art. L.321-8 (5) of the French Labor Code specifies that employees working in high-risk jobs must undergo appropriate training, supplemented by periodic updating of their knowledge of occupational safety and health
Objectives
- To allow personnel to work in polluted air in order to perform certain tasks safely
- Know the constraints related to the wearing of SCBA
- Learn to communicate with ARI
- Familiarize personnel with the use of SCBA for different missions (valve closure, rescue of persons, extinguishing ...)

Theory
- Risks related to the lack of oxygen
- Hazards related to areas with an unbreathable atmosphere
- Nomenclature of the devices
- Rules of use, checks before intervention, dressing procedure, routine maintenance
- Know how to manage materials, role of the work supervisor
- Psychological effects of wearing SCBA
Practice
- Knowledge test (MCQ)
- Control of knowledge by observation of behaviors during practical evolution

Be in possession of a valid medical certificate issued by an Occupational Health Physician stipulating the ability to wear SCBA
